New on Steam – Bombergrounds: Reborn and Bomberman at speed with a grab

from Jonathan Duro
Those who lack the good old Bomberman games now have an alternative with Bombergrounds: Reborn. However, many players disagree with the release and the type of monetization.

The Bomberman franchise may still be around, but it has long since passed its peak. Studio Gigantic Duck Games literally wants to revive the genre with their new game Bombergrounds: Reborn. And the title is even free-to-play.

Bombergrounds: Reborn: Players run through colorful arenas and try to blow each other off. Bombs can be placed and moved for this purpose. Unfortunately, if you get caught in an explosion, you have to leave the battlefield. As usual in a Battle Royale, the remaining player (or team) ultimately wins.

This is what the developers of Gigantic Duck Games promise:

  • 15 animals with unique abilities
  • 4 unique game modes and more to come
  • Online multiplayer battle royale
  • Unlockable cosmetics and emotes

Bombergrounds: Reborn is actually an update for Bombergrounds: Battle Royale

As the name of Bombergrounds: Reborn suggests, the game is based on an existing title, namely Bombergrounds: Battle Royale. Hence, Reborn is more of an update than a standalone game, and many users disagree with this.

Other interesting games on Steam:

It’s immediately apparent that Bombergrounds: Reborn has an approval rating of 90 percent (very positive), but the ratings over the past 30 days have only been 49 percent positive (balanced). The reason could be that microtransactions and gacha mechanics made their way into the game with the update. Some users accuse the game of being pay-to-win, and others suspect that Reborn is set to benefit from the good ratings of its predecessor and therefore hasn’t been released separately. At least everyone can form their own opinion without having to pay a cent for it.
